sweet and salty kale with spicy sausage

Servings 4 INGREDIENTS 1 big bunch kale it's probably about 3 cups worth 3 slices cut into 1" pieces bacon 1-1.5 tbsp apple cider vinegar depending how how big your bunch is you may need more or less 2-3 tbsp coconut sugar depending how how big your bunch is you may need more or less INSTRUCTIONS If you saved your bacon grease, then heat up your large pot on medium high, pour all of the bacon grease (so probably about 3 tbsp) and then add the kale by tearing off pieces until there are just stems left. If you didn't make bacon in the morning then just add the cut up bacon to the pot and cook until its brown and then add the kale. Cook and stir the kale for about 5 minutes or until kale starts

Gear - Hydration Pack

Hydration It's essential to keep going on the trail. Finding the pack that's works best for your body and needs is ultra important! What to Consider The first thing a runner needs to consider is the hydration pack I'm buying designed for running? There are lots out there that may be more suited to mountain biking or hiking. If you buy a pack that isn't specific to running you can end up with the dreaded bounce! Running packs are designed to fit snug to your body and they don't bounce and give you the rub rash that makes you jump in the shower. The pack bounce while running is the worst. I've never had one that bounces but I've watched a few runners that had.....no thanks! Your pack should fe

Training Through Perimenopuase #4

Practice What You Preach This week was to be a big training week... I was so pumped, felt great at the beginning all the way to Thursday. Face meet wall!! I took Friday off and Saturday was meant to be a 4:30 hour run. I woke up 6 pounds heavier,(tell me this has happened to you) legs of lead and ZERO motivation. I got out there did the first hour, met up with a very understanding friend and drug my very heaving feeling legs, and mopping attitude around for another 2 hrs, then gave up. Then Sunday I was to race a 21km trail race, this did not go as planned. Again, face meet wall... At first I was super disappointed in myself for not getting my entire training day in, and having what I felt w

Business Up Front Party in The Back!

Now there’s an 80’s throw back if I’ve ever heard one. We are talking races here being a podium runner would, let’s face it, be amazing. But is that really where all the fun happens? I think not, us mid pack, back packers have all the fun. I mean you can’t stop and take photo opts at the front of the pack, so where do you keep those memories of the events that you do? All you may have is a starting and podium picture (poor you). The rest of us have time to chit chat and make new friends, slowly peruse over the feed tables, high five each other with cool photo opts. Last but not least we have time to pull our pants down when we need to do our bush business lol. Do they have fun? I’ve only eve

Know When to Hold or Fold

In the words of Kenny Rogers, know when to hold'em, know when to fold'em, know when to walk away and know when to run. Do you know when to say enough is enough? Wether it's training or racing, there can come a point when the enjoyment is gone.. You head out for your runs and each step feels so hard, 9 out of 10 runs suck and you never feel like you are improving, all you want is for that stupid run or race to be over with and to never have to think about it again.. Fold Em? You ask yourself why am I doing this? Am I training and going just because I paid and signed up? Where's the enjoyment gone? This is supposed to be fun, this is NOT fun! I can't speak for everyone, but I know that I have
